Construction projects set for BMS, BIS this summer

On April 7, 2015, voters approved an $11 million bond issue for the Bolivar R-1 School District. The two-year construction project will add safe and secure entries at all four main attendance centers, upgrade the Bolivar Primary School kitchen, upgrade the district's aged HVAC systems at all buildings and give the district the option to pay off an existing lease-purchase in 2017, if interest rates reset at a higher-rate.

Two major construction projects - at BIS and BMS -  will be completed in the summer of 2015. Work will begin at the Bolivar Intermediate School on Tuesday, May 26. This project includes the relocating of the school's library and administrative offices. The offices will be moved to where the library is currently located to allow for an exterior access to the school's main entry. The library will be moved to the location of the current offices and expanded to provide a larger, more inviting learning space. Summer School classes for BIS will be moved to Bolivar Primary School for the summer. All BIS staff members will be relocated to BPS for the month of June.

Work will begin at Bolivar Middle School on Monday, June 1. This project includes renovating and expanding the building's office area and entry way to provide a safe and secure entry to the building. Summer School classes for BMS will be moved to Bolivar High School for the summer. All BMS staff members will be relocated to BHS for the month of June.

HVAC upgrades will also take place throughout the summer.

Construction work at BHS and BPS will take place in the summer of 2016.
